If you have one or more missing teeth, there are number of ways to replace them. As an alternative to bridges, partial or complete dentures, Dental Arts Clinic may offer to replace these missing teeth using dental implants.
Dental implants are used to replace missing roots and support the installation of artificial teeth. Implants are generally more comfortable than dentures and appear as natural teeth in your mouth.
What are Dental Implants?
A dental implant uses an artificial root made from titanium metal. This metal is inserted into your jawbone as a replacement for the root of the natural tooth. Once this artificial root is installed, a replacement tooth is attached to the implant.
Who installs dental implants?
If you require a dental implant, this procedure is done by your dentist or you may be referred to a specialist known as a periodontist or an oral/maxillofacial surgeon (usually referred to as an oral surgeon).
Who can have dental implants installed?
Dental patients who are typically healthy, with healthy gums and sufficient jawbone may be candidates for dental implants. If your jawbone has shrunk or if has not developed normally, you may require a bone graft to increase the cone capacity prior to having your implant installed.
